The software may send commands to actuators, computer systems, or other devices. Recorders | An electromechanical device that records an electrical or mechanical input trend. They may record several inputs. Gauges |A device used to make measurements in order to display a physical quantity, determine thickness, gap in space, diameter of materials, pressure or flow Sensor | A sensor is an object whose purpose is to detect changes in its environment, and then provide a corresponding output. A sensor is a type of transducer. Switches | A switch is an electrical component that can break an electrical circuit, interrupting the current or diverting it from one conductor to another. The switch may be operated by some sensing element for pressure, temperature, flow, etc. Meters | Meters display the measured variable on a LCD or LED display, and some can also transmit readings to remote places. Data Recorders | Recorders are electronic devices that records data over time or in relation to location either with a built in an instrument or sensor via external instruments and sensors Controllers | A Controller is an industrial device which has been ruggedized and adapted for the control of manufacturing processes, industrial equipment, assembly lines, or robotic devices, or any activity that requires high reliability control and ease of programming and process fault diagnosis. Indicator | Indicators can be in the form of a light, gauge, display, buzzer, alarm Interfaces | The user interface, in the industrial design field of human–machine interaction, is the space where interactions between humans and machines occur. The goal of this interaction is to allow effective operation and control. Select Any Communications That Apply: Wireless | Wireless communication is the transfer of information or power between two or more points that are not connected by an electrical conductor. Relay Output | A relay is an electrically operated switch. Discrete | A Discrete output is electrically isolated from the device controlling its function Ethernet | Ethernet communications allows connection to family of computer networking technologies commonly used in local area networks (LANs) Analog | A continuous signal for which the time varying feature (variable) of the signal is a representation of some other time varying quantity Digital | Digital or binary outputs allow you to control activities which can have two states. With a digital output you can either turn something off or on. SPI | The Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) bus is a synchronous serial communication interface specification used for short distance communication, primarily in embedded systems I2C | I-squared-C, is a multi-master, multi-slave, single-ended, serial computer bus that is typically used for attaching lower-speed peripheral to processors and microcontrollers in short-distance, intra-board communication. Serial | Serial communication is the process of sending data one bit at a time, sequentially, over a communication channel or computer bus. This is in contrast to parallel communication, where several bits are sent as a whole, on a link with several parallel channels. UART | Universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter, UART, is a computer hardware device for asynchronous serial communication in which the data format and transmission speeds are configurable. The electric signaling levels and methods, such as differential signaling are handled by a driver circuit external to the UART. ZigBee | ZigBee is an IEEE 802.15.4-based specification for a suite of high-level communication protocols used to create personal area networks with small, low-power digital radios Bluetooth | Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances (using short-wavelength UHF radio waves in the ISM band from 2.4 to 2.485 GHz) from fixed and mobile devices, and building personal area networks (PANs). HART | Hart is a digital industrial automation protocol. Its most notable advantage is that it can communicate over legacy 4-20 mA analog instrumentation current loops, sharing the pair of wires used by the older system. 4-20 mA | 4–20 mA current loops are commonly used for electronic signaling, with the two values of 4 & 20 mA representing 0-100% of the range of measurement or control. These loops are used both for carrying sensor information from field instrumentation, and carrying control signals to the process modulating devices, such as a valve.
